Reinventing Tutor-Student Interaction

As the Digital Strategist at the Learning Resources Center (LRC), my vision was to revolutionize how we connect tutors and students. The result? A platform that effortlessly blends innovation, functionality, and user-centric design.

Real-Time Updates and Dynamic Session Management

The platform is powered by Nextjs, React, and Firebase, enabling real-time updates for both recurring schedules and date-specific calendar events. With an intuitive interface, administrators can easily manage tutors' schedules, track their progress, and handle any schedule changes or cancellations, all in real-time.

Expanding Services with a Click

The platform's dynamic nature allows administrators to create new services by simply entering a URL and the corresponding session information, thereby expanding the center's offerings with ease.

Document Management and User Engagement

Additionally, the platform includes a document management system that not only provides students with essential resources but also tracks the usage of these resources, offering critical insights into students' needs and engagement.

To cater to the current trend of remote learning, the platform includes features for remote session registration and attendance tracking. The development also extends to an iPad app that will leverage RFID technology for in-person event attendance tracking, truly bridging the gap between physical and virtual learning environments.

The application employs Algolia to supercharge the search functionality. Through cloud functions, Algolia records are automatically updated as sessions are added and edited, offering real-time, accurate search results across the entire event database.

In the pipeline is a tvOS app for Apple TV, envisioned as a digital signage solution to display real-time, relevant, and upcoming session information to students on the go. This application will further enhance the students' experience by providing them with timely and valuable information at their fingertips.
